A dental transfer cap is a precision-engineered rigid component utilized in implant prosthodontics to spatially transfer the three-dimensional position and axial alignment of an implant or abutment from the intraoral environment to an extraoral master cast. The device engages with the implant/abutment interface through mechanically complementary connections and becomes incorporated within polymerized impression material. Following material setting, the transfer cap is retrieved within the impression, generating a geometrically accurate negative recess. An implant analog is subsequently attached to the cap within this recess, enabling the creation of a master cast that replicates the clinical implant configuration. The accuracy of this transfer mechanism is determined by manufacturing tolerances, impression material dimensional stability, and adherence to standardized clinical protocols.
